Best of the Week, II

Shannon McCormick and I, through Gnap! Theatre Company, entered FronteraFest with a two person improv show. Through weeks of rehearsal, we came up with 24 (minutes), an improvised parody of the hit TV show “24.” We take a mundane problem and try to solve it in a high stakes, realtime manner a la “24”. The show on Wednesday was an unqualified success. It was set in a shopping mall and an inept employee entered the wrong numbers in to the cash register. We had 24 minutes to fix the register, or the entire chain of “0-2-8 stores,” specializing in thin person’s clothing, would be brought to the ground. There were tranquilizer darts, stakeouts, and Orange Juliuses, too. Friday night we found out we won BEST OF THE WEEK! We performed again on Saturday but couldn’t match our original spectacularity. Hopefully it was passable enough to get us into Best of the Fest, so we can perform the show a few more times.
