Dirty South Improv Festival: Day 1

I am writing from the Open Eye Cafe in downtown Carborro, North Carolina. We are here for the Dirty South Improv Festival. Last night I saw 5 different troupes perform and tonight is our night to be on stage for the festival.

I went into this festival not knowing much about any of the participating troupes except for the headliners. So far my favorites are:

Box o’ Bones
Chips

We are performing at the Arts Center, a 300- seat venue, which hopefully will be fuller tonight than it was last night. I feel nervous and excited to share our show with improvisers from around the country. Most of the shows had a similar style and feel, and I think GGG will really stand out here. But it’s improv and you never know what’s going to happen.

The people at DSI have been very friendly and the weather has been sunny but very cold.

About Shana Merlin

Merlin Works is the brainchild of Shana Merlin: improviser, teacher, and performer. Since 1996, she’s been leading classes that stretch people’s imaginations, push them out of their comfort zones, and make them laugh out loud for hours at a time.
