ANNOUNCEMENT: It’s a bummer, but we are no longer offering classes for individuals as of December 31, 2025. If you have a group that would like to take a class or corporate training, head to www.merlin.works and fill out our contact form. Below is a list of all the cool classes we used to offer.
Merlin Works still offers improv training, team building sessions, keynote presentations, and communication skills workshops for businesses and private groups. So if you have a group at your company or personal life and want to bring in an improv teacher, head to www.merlin.works and click Contact Us to get a quote.
Unfortunately, our Improv School and its classes for individuals in improv, storytelling, stand-up, and musical improv closed in December 2025. The good news is there’s lots of other great options in town:
- The Hideout classes are probably the most similar to Merlin Works classes, which were focused on psychological safety and narrative improv. (They are operating out of a new, smaller Annex space in Central North Austin after they lost their downtown space).
- If you want a true comedy theater setting, Fallout, Coldtowne (recently merged with Upright Citizens Brigade) is the way to go.
- If you are super shy and nervous about improv class, even though you know it would be good for you, you might check out Improv for Introverts at Mercury Improv.
- If you want an intimate, acting-focused training center, take a look at The Actors Lab with Sarah Marie Curry.
- If you want a place to study improv along with acting, musical theater, and other performing arts, head to our old home base, ZACH Theatre
- If you’re looking for improv for kids, check out Hideout Kids and Excused Absence Comedy at Coldtowne. My kids have taken classes, attended camps, and seen shows at both and had a great time.
- If you’re looking for Storytelling Classes, check out The Storytellers Studio from Testify ATX
