Online Improv 101 (Parts A & B): The Spirit of Play
Part A: Learn the fundamentals of improvisation while social distancing. The class’s interactive exercises build listening and communication skills, heighten awareness and teach you how to be more playful, spontaneous and flexible. Play short form improv games from the comfort of your home.
Part B: Continue your improv journey with us. Dive deeper into Yes And, Storytelling, and Performance Games. All while playing and laughing with your new improv buddies.

In-Person, Outdoor Improv 101: The Spirit of Play

Online Improv 201: Improv Toolbelt
Learn scene work fundamentals such as sharing the stage, characters, body language, scene starts, mime work, comedy, listening, acting, and stage skills. Fill up your Improv Toolbelt, so you are ready to perform anytime, anywhere. We explore fuller scenes and comedy show games while having fun and celebrating risk-taking.
Online Improv 301: Improv Comedy for Performance
Learn about different kinds of short-form improv comedy games using verbal restrictions, emotional changes, jump and justify, physicality, audience interaction, monologues, and film and TV styles. By the end of the workshop, you will be ready for your Improv 301 Graduation Show: a public performance in front of a paying audience.
Master Improvised Storytelling.
Collect the training and tools to perform longform unscripted comedic plays, movies and stories.
At the end of these three classes, you’ll perform a show in the genre of your choosing with your classmates at our theater.
Advanced Narrative Improv
Online Improv 401: Intro to Narrative Improv
Turn your short-form skills into long-form wizardry! In our new class, Intro to Narrative Improv, you’ll work with Monica Martinez-Maher to understand the principles of narrative improv and how you can turn a short-form improv scene into the opening of a narrative play. At least three class levels of improv experience are required.
Online Narrative Improv Performance
In this class, you use your narrative improv skills to create an improvised play that tells a story from beginning to end. Each week you’ll learn different techniques for turning short-form improv work into a compelling narrative. This class culminates in a graduation performance at Merlin Works Second Sunday, where you’ll earn the coveted Merlin Works wand!!
