Midnight Sun

Just when I thought I was out… they drag me back in!

I was less than a hundred pages away from finishing Breaking Dawn when Sarah tells me about Midnight Sun, a retelling of the original Twilight book from Edward’s perspective. Here we go again…

The story reminds me of an old Johnstone quote: “If you end in murder, start in love.” Basically, if you want your characters to journey to a certain point, start far away from it. And usually in romance or romantic comedy, it starts in dislike, annoyance or hate for the leading couple. In Twilight, it basically starts in murder (or the desire of one of the leads to murder the other) and ends in love. It’s actually murder at first sight. Something about Bella makes Edward want to kill her more than he’s ever wanted to kill anyone before. What a great starting point for an epic love story.
