I Wish Songs on This American Life

This week’s This American Life radio show is all about hopes and wishes. And the introductory segment could have been stolen from my Improv Singing 201 Class. It’s all about the prevalence of “I Wish” or “I Want” songs at the beginnings of musicals to establish the hero and his objective. They give tons of examples from popular culture and then Ira Glass breaks in to his own “I Wish” song about his hopes and dreams for the episode. Hilarious.

And also exactly what we were working on in rehearsal for Crack! The Improvised Puppet Musical that I’ll be guest starring in on Saturday August 21st at 8pm at SVT.
