Recommended: American Fiesta

Last night we went to go see American Fiesta, the one man play written and performed by Steven Tomlinson.

Congratulations to Steven Tomlinson on the success of American Fiesta, which was touted as a top Theatrical Treasure & Pleasure of 2005 by the Austin Chronicle and as the Best Play of 2005 by the Austin-American Statesman.

I have had the pleasure of working with Steven in the past when he was running the UT MBA program and brought in a team of improvisers to teach improv skills to the MBA students. Steven actually took my class (he was a great student, obviously, and a great person to get to know. ) There’s even a theme in the show about “Yes People” and “But People” that I can’t help but think was inspired by our improv “Yes And” vs. “Yes But” lessons.

The show is wonderful and connects themes of family, the internet, politics, neuroscience, and dish collecting. It’s here for a few more weeks and I highly recommend it.
