Shana Merlin, the founder of Merlin Works is also the founder of the longest continuously and currently running troupe in Austin: Girls Girls Girls Improvised Musicals, founded in 2003. Not only has this group won all the major improv awards in Austin, they are also a sisterhood of dear friends. How do you keep an improv group running that long? How do you foster community while pursuing creative excellence. Join Shana, along with Paul Normandin and other experienced improvisers explore the mechanics of how to make improv groups run smoothly day-to-day and year-to-year.

Online Improv for Therapists

Join improviser and practicing therapist Lacy Alana, LCSW, RSW with Merlin Works Founder Shana Merlin in this engaging and practical session. We’ll explore the enormous overlaps in the worlds of therapy and improvisation and give you hands-on experience with new tools and techniques you can use with your clients. Great for therapists and counselors who work with kids, families, couples, individuals, and groups.

About Karina

Karina Dominguez is the registrar and assistant to the Dean of Merlin Works Institute of Improvisation. She graduated from the Merlin Works program in December 2011 with three performances of "The Amazing Improvised Race." She is a full-time actor with commercial credits such as Burger King, Ford, Totino's, H-E-B and various departments for the State of Texas. She was last seen in the opening episode of the second season of "American Crime", and as the welcome video ranger in the second season of HBO's "The Leftovers", and as Helah in the first season of "The Chosen". She also performs on-stage in various Austin, TX plays including for Capital T Theatre, The Vortex, Vestige Group, Pollyanna Theater among others.
