Our jam-packed October of Student Showcases continues this Saturday and we’re so excited to share what everyone has been working on! We’ve got dual Student Graduations Showcase featuring Improv 301 & Musical Improv 301! So, come on down and support our student Improvisers & Musical Improvisers!

HERE’S OUR SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

WEEKEND 2

Saturday, October 14, 8 PM

Improv 301 & Musical Improv 301 Graduations Showcase

It’s a dual Graduations Night as we congratulate both our ‘talkie’ improvisers and our Musical Improvisers! 

  • Improv 301 Graduation — Merlin Works’s short-form graduates perform improv games based on audience suggestions and participation!
  • Musical Improv 301 Graduation — Merlin Works’s musical improv graduates perform an improvised, Broadway-style musical based on audience suggestions! This particular group have been together through many setbacks over the course of their musical improv journey, so it is with particular glee that we celebrate these students!

WEEKEND 3

Friday, October 20, 7:30 PM

Storytelling 201 Student Showcase

When: 7:30pm – 9pm Friday October 20th

Where: Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches, 3220 Manor Rd

Who: Students who have completed our 8-week Storytelling 201 Class

What:  Enjoy reserved seating, fresh food, coffee and beer as you watch these storytellers as they share their often funny, sometimes emotional moments from their own lives. Intended for audiences age 16 and up.

Warning: This event was previously scheduled for September 29. All tickets purchased before the date change will be honored. No further action is required.

At Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches you can enjoy:

  • Free Parking
  • Reserved seting with ticket pre-purchase
  • Food & Drinks on-site

So come on down. It’s highly recommended to reserive your seats for the awesomeness that is the Merlin Works Storytelling Student Showcase.


But wait, there’s more!

Before each 8 pm Saturday showcase, we have a 6 pm Free Improv Jam! This event is open to the public. No improv experience necessary. Join us October 14 to warm up before the 8 pm showcase with some instructor-led improv games!

When: 6pm Saturday October 14th

Where: Creative Action 1023 Springdale Rd Bldg 3

Who: You–And anyone else who signs up!

What:  Come meet, mingle and play some improv games led by a Merlin Works instructor. You might even get up on stage and perform for the group!

Warning: Wear clothes that are comfortable to move around in, bring a water bottle, and let the instructor know if you need any accommodations when you arrive. 

About Karina

Karina Dominguez is the registrar and assistant to the Dean of Merlin Works Institute of Improvisation. She graduated from the Merlin Works program in December 2011 with three performances of "The Amazing Improvised Race." She is a full-time actor with commercial credits such as Burger King, Ford, Totino's, H-E-B and various departments for the State of Texas. She was last seen in the opening episode of the second season of "American Crime", and as the welcome video ranger in the second season of HBO's "The Leftovers", and as Helah in the first season of "The Chosen". She also performs on-stage in various Austin, TX plays including for Capital T Theatre, The Vortex, Vestige Group, Pollyanna Theater among others.
