WEEKEND 1

STORYTELLING 301 STUDENT STORYTELLING SHOWCASE

When: 6pm Friday, December 8th

Where: Batch Kraft Beer & Kolaches, 3220 Manor Rd, Austin, TX 78723

Who: Students who have completed our 6-week Storytelling 301 Class

What:  Watch, laugh, listen, feel along with these storytellers as they share moments from their own lives. 

Warning: This performance is intended for audiences age 16 and up! If you are a Merlin Works student registered for the Fall Session, you get in free with student code!


When: 10pm – 11:30pm Saturday, December 9th

Where: Creative Action, 1023 Springdale Rd., Bldg. 3

Who: Students who have completed our 6-week Stand-Up Comedy 101 Class

What:  Watch our student stand-up comics as they perform 5-minute sets honed over a 6-week workshop led by instructor Valerie Nies.

Warning: This event tends to sell out. Early ticket purchase is HIGHLY recommended. In case of a sellout, any seats left unclaimed 15 minutes after the start of the show will be sold to walk-ups. If you are a Merlin Works student registered for the Fall Session, you get in free with student code!

Who: You–And anyone else who signs up!

What:  Come meet, mingle and play some improv games led by a Merlin Works instructor. You might even get up on stage and perform for the group!

Warning: Wear clothes that are comfortable to move around in, bring a water bottle, and let the instructor know if you need any accommodations when you arrive. 


IMPROV 301 STUDENT GRADUATION SHOW

When: 8pm – 9:30pm Saturday, December 9th & 16th

Where: Creative Action, 1023 Springdale Rd., Bldg. 3

Who: Students who have completed Merlin Works Improv levels 101-301!

What: Join us in congratulating our fall 2023 Improv 301 graduating classes! Watch as these future improvisers delight you with the skills they’ve learned over the past 6 months by playing improv games based on audience suggestions!

Warning: Early ticket purchase HIGHLY encouraged as this event tends to sell out. In case of a sellout, any seats left unclaimed 15 minutes after start of show will be sold to walk-ups. If you are a Merlin Works student registered in the Fall session, you get in for free with student code!

Merlin Works Holiday Party

When: 9:30pm – 12am Saturday, December 16th

Who: Friends, Faculty, Students, & Alumni!

What:  Celebrate a magical year at Merlin Works!

And weekly through the remainder of our Fall 2023 class session…

FREE Open Mic Nights

When: 8:30pm – 10pm Wednesdays through December 6th (except November 22)

Where: Creative Action, 1023 Springdale Rd., Bldg. 3

Who: Anyone with a 3-minute comedy set they wish to perform in front of an audience.

What:  Free Open Mic nights hosted by a different student stand-up 201 comic. Sign up starting at 8:15pm for a chance to perform your own 3-minute set in front of an audience.

Warning: This is the second part of our Stand-Up Comedy 201 class. Please do not show up before the allotted sign-up time to get a seat. Sign ups are on-site only.

About Karina

Karina Dominguez is the registrar and assistant to the Dean of Merlin Works Institute of Improvisation. She graduated from the Merlin Works program in December 2011 with three performances of "The Amazing Improvised Race." She is a full-time actor with commercial credits such as Burger King, Ford, Totino's, H-E-B and various departments for the State of Texas. She was last seen in the opening episode of the second season of "American Crime", and as the welcome video ranger in the second season of HBO's "The Leftovers", and as Helah in the first season of "The Chosen". She also performs on-stage in various Austin, TX plays including for Capital T Theatre, The Vortex, Vestige Group, Pollyanna Theater among others.
