Welcome New Orleans Improvisers

Something special that came out of the Out of Bounds festival was the last minute addition of the New Orleans troupe Coldtown Heroes. They were evacuees that have now transplanted to Austin. Shannon and I invited them to share our slot in the festival. We got to rehearse together beforehand and they are great people and great improvisers. They seemed to really enjoy a temporary return to normalcy that rehearsal and shows bring. Here’s a picture of me and one of the New Orleans transplants, Chris.

Hopefully they’ll be perfoming more here in the coming months.

About Shana Merlin

Merlin Works is the brainchild of Shana Merlin: improviser, teacher, and performer. Since 1996, she’s been leading classes that stretch people’s imaginations, push them out of their comfort zones, and make them laugh out loud for hours at a time.

FYI, Tami from the N.O. troupe told me their name was “Cold Towne Heroes” (a mix of names after deliberating for 6 hours). And, they’re considering calling themselves “Cold Towne Refugees” now.
